Rockaway Beach, Oregon by Steve King
Western Places Volume 11-3
Mostly unpopulated in 1900, Rockaway Beach became a boom town on Oregon’s northern coast with the arrival of the railroad in 1910. Competing townsites were platted, stores and businesses opened, and hotels and many cottages were rapidly erected to serve the influx of tourists from the Portland area. There have been many changes, but Rockaway Beach is still a vibrant community. The book includes maps and many photos from the early years.
