Macdonald's Stage Coaches and Stations: Western Washington by Joseph F. Macdonald
Much of Western Washington’s early settlement was along the shores of Puget Sound, and Bellingham, Olympia, Seattle and Tacoma emerge as major ports. Settlement inland from the ports were served by stage companies. An important{ route was established between Olympia and Portland. When railroads were built, they would serve the communities along their route. Even then not all towns were served by rail, and new, shorter stage routes would run from railroad towns to surrounding towns off the railroad. This book will tell you everything you need to know about getting around Western Washington prior to 1920.
