This book identifies and provides useful information on all places in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington that can be considered mining camps and towns. The towns included had significant mines or were built to serve nearby mines or were smelter towns.
Information of several types has been included wherever possible.
Location. This has been done by county, written description relating the location to water courses, Section, Township and Range; and by map, showing the relationship of the place to other towns and land forms int he area. Each entry is indeed to the map on which it is located.

- It never approached the fame of its California namesake, but Washington had its own mining camp named Bodie. It has several log buildings remaining.
